Street Drum Corps is a drums and percussion based performance group that has been described as a Punk Rock Stomp. Their music is a combination of new punk with street drumming played on various instruments and recycled objects along with some EDM beats (Listen on Spotify) They are great guys who I had the pleasure of partying with a couple years ago when they were in town opening for 30 Seconds to Mars. Congratulations to them on finally presenting their new production show “Lost Vegas” tonight 1/26/13 at Vinyl inside the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Vegas. They are bringing along special guests Tommy Lee of Motley Crue, Adrian Young of No Doubt, and Stephen Perkins of Jane’s Addiction. Stay tuned for a review

Dave Grohl has assembled a supergroup of musicians who were part of his directorial debut in the documentary Sound City. The Sound City Players played their first live gig following the Sundance Film Festival premier of the film on January 18, 2013. Members of Grohl’s bands Nirvana (Krist Novoselic, Pat Smear), The Foo Fighters (Taylor Hawkins, Chris Shiflett, Rami Jaffe) and Queens of the Stone Age (Alain Johannes) backed Grohl and an eclectic group of music legends including Stevie Nicks, John Fogerty, Rick Springfield, Cheap Trick’s Rick Nielsen, Fear’s Lee Ving, Rage Against The Machine’s Brad Wilk, Slipknot’s Corey Taylor, and Masters of Reality’s Chris Goss. They played a 3+ hour long set of classic songs from from their own catalogs plus new material recorded for the Sound City soundtrack. The Sound City Players have an additional gig scheduled at The Hollywood Palladium following the LA premier of the film on Thursday, January 31, 2013. Stay tuned for a first hand review as I have gotten hold of a couple tix to the sold out Palladium show.
